What is a doula?
A trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
What services do we offer?
Continuous emotional support has been linked to better outcomes in all birthing experiences. Whether the birth occurs in a home or birth center with a midwife, or in a hospital setting with doctors and nurses, the ongoing presence of a Doula as a member of your birth team can be a great comfort and blessing. Not all care providers can provide intensive uninterrupted attention. As a labor doulas, we will be there from the early signs of labor all the way through to recovery. We will be by your side as long as you need and will provide a constant presence to help you through your labor.
We can provide basic information about the process of childbirth and what to expect from the process. We encourage all expectant mothers to take a comprehensive childbirth class, either online or one of the many offered in the community. We offer Hypnobabies as part of our Diamond package, or it can be taken separately.
Throughout all history, women have supported other woman as they brought new lives into the world. This support was often literal as backs and legs have been supported, hands were held, and brows were wiped. Effective comfort techniques have been passed down through generations, as well as new methods have been discovered. all of our doulas are trained in physical support measures such as
- Counter pressure
- Aroma and sound therapy
- Hot and cold comfort measures
Your significant other is a very important part of your birthing experience. We take the time to make sure that your birth partner has the education and support they need to be confident and helpful partners. As we build your birth plan our Doulas make sure that we include the role of your partner. To ensure they are participating as much or a little as mom would like.
Bringing home a new baby can be overwhelming. Family members and friends can be a major blessing but sometimes you need more help than they can provide, or you just need someone you can count on to be there when you need them. We can offer postpartum support including
